Sewage pipes run like veins throughout the city underground. The pipes carry unclean water to treatment facilities where it is purified. Things such as dirt or trash may clog the pipes, resulting in foul odors, so do not do the following:
If you flush these types of things into the sewers, the pipes may become clogged and result in foul odors or overflowing sewage, which could cause trouble for your neighbors.
Acids can cause corrosive damage to sewer pipes. Volatile substances have been known to explode, causing severe damage.
Dirt, oils and wood can clog up the sewer pipes and cause pump failures, so please do not dispose of them in this manner.
What the public sewage system carries is dirty water (from baths, kitchens, sinks, toilets) only. If you flush arainwater as well, the pipes will overflow, causing mechanism failures, the flooding of lowland areas, and household drainage back flows.
Please do not use garbage disposals unit. If you connect one to your sink, the food waste will pile up and decay in the sewer pipes, causing foul odors and damaging sewage treatment equipment.
